hey scotty wanted to say great work and to keep it up! but i need your help
I have a 2004 hyundai accent, i noticed a Hissing noise coming from my a/c vents and that my a/c wasn’t blowing as cold as normal, i tryed filling it with some feon from my local autozone work for about a week with normal use not blowing it at full blast, but not the hissing is back and not blowing as cold again any idea
also i noticed the compressor is still working same with the blower
is it most like a leak hose?
Sweet, I’m also a mechanic.
@knadallisa watch my other video “fixing a car that cranks but doesn’t start up” Has to be one of those solutions. Scotty
scotty need some help got a 1998 dodge caravan and it doesnt want to start ,sprayed starter fluid and check the fluids can you help?
@cmdbullie1 no one really fixes them correctly, they are cheaply made inside with lots of plastic parts. You just put new ones on if you’re smart. Even the rebuilt units are often crappy. Scotty
can you fix a a/c Compressor
@420PotGod
My 97 Monte Carlo was doing that and it ended up being a very small vacuum hose. Check this first.
I can’t find a replacement hose for my car, I’m guessing the junk yard it is. Isn’t there a site where I can buy a hose formed for my car though?
@scottykilmer…I have a 98 ford winstar and I changed the thermostat and now it ildes too high and have to turn it off while in gear. What do I do?
Good stuff Scotty
scotty kilmer is badass
@ProtocolsMaster NO. Scotty
I want to convert my car to electric. do you think a 12v battery will run this air conditioning system?
@420PotGod don’t know, never used mighty putty. As for the AC, you have a vacuum leak somewhere causing that, see it all the time. Start searching for one. Scotty
ok, JB weld, but will “mighty putty” epoxy work, for a temp fix of course, & after the freon leaks out, will there be an issue removing the “epoxy” from the high side valve w/ dust cap, so it can be replaced?
oh, also sometimes when i accelerate the AC quits blowing cold, but returns back after speed is reached, & its only sometimes,,, any thoughts
thanks
@msimbo93 probably, I would just hot wire the compressor directly from the battery and see what happens. On that old thing, who cares, I would then put a toggle switch on the dash to turn it on if that worked. Scotty
I have 1991 Ford Econoline van. When I turn on the heater I get heat and the blower motor works at all speeds. When I turn on the AC, the compressor does not clutch in and the blower does not turn on. I checked and there is refrigerant in the system and the compressor is not frozen. I am thinking its a bad AC control switch. Your thoughts?
@420PotGod I’ve had good luck using JB Weld kwik epoxy to seal em. Scotty
hey scotty, my 95 g20 vans high side valve is leaking, very slowly, sometimes you can hear it hissing, but i can tighten it down & it will stop for awhile, my question is,, can i seal the leaking valve with some type of putty until the freon is gone, & then replace the valve?
@chevynut71570 tons of places, I got mine cheap at harbor freight tools. Scotty
Where can you get the vacum pump?
@larocqueski of course, they can leak anytime. I use UV leak dye to find leaks in AC systems. Scotty
@scottykilmer Scotty! I have a question for you!
I have a 1998 olds intrigue, and we had the first hot day a couple days ago. I turned the AC on, and the air was not being cooled very much at all, however the compressor was running. Hooked up my pressure gages, and it was low. Next day, hardly and pressure left and compressor won’t even turn on. Third day, NO PRESSURE AT ALL in the system! I used it about a month before and it was fine. Could a leak start by letting the AC sit for a month?
this is not really a DO IT YOURSELF AT HOME because it requires those machine and they’re quite expensive so I’d rather go to a mechanic and have them fixed with warranty. But it’s easy to do.
@scottykilmer I think thats whats happen was blowing hot air i ad freon then it started to blow cold air after the guy left he calls back saying his car is overheating temp gauge was going up, smoke coming out of the hood and coolant leaking from the radiator,i think one of the fan wasn,t working when i checked
